Nice...laminated?
Re: Anudder Van
Absotively laminate. Real good decision getting a laminator.
No jobs coming back after customer went through the power washer....
which then becomes sign guys fault.

Output per side: $180 x 2 = $360
(roughly 3 x 4ft area at $15/sqft
Rear door: $90
Output includes Scratchguard.
OPTION: For 2 mil HP clear UV overlam, we add $3/sqft

Total Materials with art setup: $570
Installation $120
Total job: $690
7% New York State Sales Tax: $48.73
Grand Total: $738.30
Your rate at $550 is a bargain in upstate New York.
Did you charge for the artwork?
Great job!
Tony
PS - Just a thought here....
Did you CREATE the customer's logo?
If yes, we would charge $360 for 'professional services rendered.'
What we call in the trade: Graphic Design.
Then we would deduct the $120 art setup charge for the van lettering.

Great business approach Tony. As you guessed I left some money on the table.
I will refer to your post more in the future. Pulling a number off the top of
your head is purely ignorant. Got into the job doing a bit more vinyl cuts and
changed my mind a went digital for most everything. Thanks for your
post.

Re: Anudder Van
also... actually did not create the "AJ" but just put it in a panel. A lot of times
what I do is a one time 'set-up' of $250-300. which does not entitle the customer
to own the art-work, it is what I term a set-up charge. If the customer (and in
this case) says I want the art-work I put the art on a disk for $300.
I look at this like this; a graphic designer would charge around $800. for a
starting logo design. $600. for the set-up and artwork would still be a bargain.
I will pay more attention to the business approach in the future.

Re: Anudder Van
Hi Mark,
I'm curious as to what size of laminater you are using and what brand. I'm going to be purchasing one soon so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Anudder Van
Sorry Matt I didn't see this post until now. I have a 40" Royal Soverign
laminator. Made in China but has performed very well for a couple years
now. Would not be without a laminator. Mine was about $4200. as I recall.
RS-1050 if that is still current. It has a hot shoe if you wanted to do some
heat with it but I just do cold lamination all the way. A good selling point
also. No bad PR from prints that got scratched and the customer wants
you to replace the print on his/her vehicle.

Re: Anudder Van
Hi Mark, yeah I totally agree on laminating for vehicle stuff. That's why I'm looking for a laminator as well. I've tracked down a DC4 finally and am in the process of payment and arranging shipment. I've seen some of your work and have followed some of your posts as well; you seem like a pretty cool guy. If you don't mind could you shoot me an email some time? I'd like to talk to you about sign industry stuff regarding the summas.
Thanks
