How-To Contour & Flex Cut (Punch-Out) Stickers
To get Contour & Flex-Cut to work:

2. Name new color "CONTOUR "
3. Make SPOT (not process).
4. Select a Flex color (50% Magenta) in your drawing program.
5. Name new color "FLEXCUT "
6. Make SPOT (not process).
7. Draw outline around your art to be contour cut.
8. For Flex-Cut, make new line around contour (leave 1/4" gap)
6. EXPORT file as Generic EPS (PDF will not work).
7. In Summa Color Control RIP: Go to > Colorspace
.....(Contour & Flexcut will appear as SPOT Colors)
8. Run job.
9. DC3/4 will print, cut contour & punch flex line in that order.
For more info, download PDF maual here:
http://www.summausa.com/downloads/dc4sx.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Adjust FLEX setting from DC3/4 Control Panel.
Basic settings for Intermediate White Vinyl:
Go to MENU > CUTTER MENU
> Full Pressure .... 190g (or 200)
> Flex Pressure .... 90g (or 100)
> Full Length ....... 7.50 mm
> Flex Length ...... 0.5 mm (or .75mm)
RUN TESTS! BE CAREFUL!
Flex cut can wear-down blades fast if set too high.
The trick is to set it so it cuts through just enough for you to punch out by hand.
Keep in mind, that you can overcoat with Daige Rollaguard UV Clear AFTER you flex cut the job! It works great and is cheaper & faster than using Scratch Guard. Get from Hyatt Supply, Buffalo NY.

Re: How-To Contour & Flex Cut (Punch-Out) Stickers
Tony,
I'm trying to set my Flex Cut settings to punch out oval stickers and I can't get it to work.
When I go to MENU > CUTTER MENU, I don't get the Full Pressure/Flex Pressure/Full Length/Flex Length options. Am I looking in the wrong place?
I'm looking in the Cutter Menu on the printer LCD Display and all it gives me is,
Knife Pressure
Knife Offset
Velocity
Overcut
Din Test
Also, occasionally my "Contour Cut" Line will print as a cyan line instead of actually cutting. What am I doing wrong? It just did it on a file that had 5 completely different stickers printing, and only printed instead of cut one of the stickers cut lines.
Thanks for your help!!
Chad

Nevermind....called Summa Tech Support today and found out that the DC3 I just got has the Firmware from 2003!!! I'm updating that now and should be online very shortly.
Re: How-To Contour & Flex Cut (Punch-Out) Stickers
Does anyone have any tips on making this work with Windows 7 64-bit?
We had to buy a new computer to run our machines in our workroom, and of course it came with Win7 64.
I can get ONE spot in SCC, but it still comes in as "unnamed color" and I need to manually set it to EITHER "Cut Line" or "FlexCut". It doesn't recognize that there are two spots for cutting, and they aren't named correctly.
I'm going from Corel to SCC and I'm using the DC4 palette.

Re: How-To Contour & Flex Cut (Punch-Out) Stickers
I would suggest to try this:
Why dont you just use Flexcut and ContourCut colors in Summa Palette?
The way I use contour cut and flexcut is like this, I apply the color designed by Summa palette to the contour of the figure I want to cut, it is more simple than having to design a color and rename it as "whatever".
Select the whole design you want to print, cut and flexcut, and send it to SCC.
Then in SCC you just have to set Cut Line and Flexcut in the color mode window.
As told in Summa website, the palette will appear just on these programs:
DC series Colour Palette installer for Coreldraw 11 - X4 & Illustrator 10/CS/CS2/CS3/CS4 & Macromedia Freehand MX & MXa (this installer is added through Summa Printer Tools)
I am using Windows 7 too, and up to know it runs fine.

Re: How-To Contour & Flex Cut (Punch-Out) Stickers
We are having the exact same issue - we have had our DC3Plus for about a year & still trying to use the FlexCut function (as well as our origin issue that I mentioned in another post from this morning).
We have tried all of the noted tutorials & we cannot get it to work - we can contour cut, but cannot flex cut.
Is there an issue with the software that we may not be aware of?

Re: How-To Contour & Flex Cut (Punch-Out) Stickers
So here is an update (hopefully someone sees this - crossing my fingers). We figured out that we really had to adjust the Flex Cut settings & turn our blade down a bit - however, I have to ask: has everyone else had such a difficult time getting this to work exact? We had to adjust every setting for just base cutting (non-flex cut) in order to get our Flex Cut to be "right on." I suppose our blade could be a bit worn out, but this really took a lot of adjustments.
Any insight would be helpful!
Thanks
Jenn~
