4 X 8 Sign

Post by rewarder » Sun Nov 12, 2006 12:20 pm

I have to do a 4' X 8' sign and I was wondering about your application techniques. I'm thinking of using MDF and then giving it a coat of enamel paint. Any better methods?

outside or inside?

I do not think MDF will hold up outside, you want MDO. Some issue though

if you go with MDO 3/4 is very heavy ( but stays straight ) go with 1/2 and it always warps...

Some other idea's

Aluminum on 1" tubing, with bends is an excellent way to go, and you can hide the mounts...you can get it pre painted in many colors

3/4 SignFoam alittle more work but works ok. Mounting requires some thought

Alumalite - aluminum glued to heavy gauge corrugated vinyl.

As far as paint, I use Ronan. Best stuff out there. Stay away from oneshot.
Any good grade paint will suffice. Just be sure to prime with a recommended
