Can't due any major contour cuts though.
Not sure what that means. Is that like a compound curve as such.

What type of overlaminate do you like Muts?

What I meant was small letters and such...just not enough adhesion to the liner...

laminate - been using arlon 3220 for the last year or so...haven't had any issues and price ain't bad.

Here is a list from Mactac of recommended vinyls for Thermal Transfer printing.

JT5929P, JT5829P/R, JT829, EMP329, 8300, 9800.

I have had really good results with the JT5929P and 9800. 8300 works with double density. I have not got to try the other ones yet.

I have been lurking here for a couple months since I bought my DC4sx. I have had a few teething pains but nothing that a call to tech support couldn't set me straight on.

This is a great thread and I have read all of the posts but Im not sure I can really pick a vinyl. This thread is great as far as compatibility, but I just need a good ol' suggestion.

So far I have used the included 3M premium and some of the clear vinyl via the Summa Store.

What I need now is to run some print/cut decals which are a little more rigid than the 3M premium material. Something that I can deliver in a stack without an application tape. Also, I'd like one that is on a kraft paper backing rather than the clear poly backing.

Thanks in advance for your help everyone

After 15 rolls without a problem I can tell you for sure that the
ASLAN C118 Soft
is the best value for money vinyl I ever worked.

The Aslan C118 range of gloss vinyl is an opaque, coloured film for long term applications. The C118 range is 70 micron and features a soft, high flexibility film that has an minimum external life of 7 years

* premium coloured film, polymeric
* high gloss level
* high opacity
* outdoor durability: minimum7 years
* 70 µm

Measurements
50 m x 61.5 cm

The price here in Greece is 5.30 Euro per Square meter
About $205 per roll 24"

I am very happy with this vinyl.!

So I've tried running the FDC a few times. One thing I have noticed is that it doesn't same to be as 'clean' Im getting lots of failed prints due to crud.

I have been having a hard time getting the contour cut to line up correctly with the graphic itself. The thinner 3M premium white and clear had great results with this. Im sure it's as much a matter of my setting up the machine as difference in thickness of media.

I switched back to the premium to keep things moving but I still need to work on a less expensive alternative, and I'd like to get this FDC figured out.

3m matte black product# 7725-22

Good stuff metalics look sick printed on top... just have to change the media width to 0 and do short runs... and align the media by hand each run.

Warning!!! dont forget to write down the media width it must be changed back!

Hello Muts, can you remove the following from the compatible vinyl list.

Avery Graphics Saturn 12-oz banner material (S001-12 White) Just had to slow down the printer as slow as it would go

I talked to a sales rep from Fellers and he said the product was discontinued from Avery.

Thanks,

Allen

Anyone have a suggestion on vinyl that has the wrinkle release technology that can be used with a Summa? The vinyl that we "can" use is SO thin and hard to work with, it HAS to be premasked if it's over 3", and that's annoying.

Hi - I'm new to the forum - and the new owner of a DC4 (used, but in nearly new condition). A big issue I am having is that I can't seem to find a good banner material that allows even a SLIGHTLY decent print out. Does any one make a smooth banner material or is there some tweaking I can do to help out? I've tried looking around the forum, but the only solution I saw for banner material was the discontinued Saturn 12 oz from Avery. Vinyls are printing great - but banners, ugh. :(
