Took a chance on Mactac JX55298BFDMPRO and it ran very nicely on a DC4 - 54". Got it through Sign-Mart.
Excuse me if old news.

Oracal 651 White at 10900...
is that with double-density turned on or off?
i've been printing on 651 white at 12000 with double-density with pretty good results.

More Medias.
Good ones:
Grafiprint S30P Clear
12300 DD on. This media rolls opposite to the others. Good results.
Grafiprint S20P Clear
12300 DD on. This media rolls opposite to the others. Good results.
Grafiprint S32P White
12300 DD on. This media rolls opposite to the others. Some white spots appear, so result is acceptable.
Grafiprint S22P White
12300 densidad DD on. Good results.
Oracal - Oraful 3651 white
Intermediate Summa profile, good results.
Oracal - Oraful 3105 white.
Intermediate Summa profile, some white spots but rarely, so result is acceptable.
Depending on application needed:
Oracal - Oraful 3164 White.
11800-12000, it needs more heat than intermediate Summa profiles, some white spots remain. It is not a good media for spots, in my opinion, but acceptable if the design is not made of mixing colors with a 100% percentage, lets say not plain colors.
Bad Ones for DC:
Grafiprint S112P White
Dirty media, a lot of white spots, not good media.
Grafiprint S110P Clear
Transfer good but too sensitive to heat change, sometimes wrinkles appear on some places, so non 100% media trustable for good results.

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Hi Everyone,
I'm fairly new on this forum - excellent forum, by the way! I received my DC4Sx last November. Since then, I've only had a few orders (hopefully more in the future).
I have just received a request for some labels printed on Matte White vinyl. Has anybody done this with a Summa? If so, what vinyl brand would work best?

Mojave 8.0 mil. Hi-Stat® Clear Static Cling Vinyl (by GMI)
Prints AWESOME so far.
I need to do more testing, but we produce some two color clings for our local chamber of commerce and they look great. I had gotten a roll of the Avery static cling in and it was horrible, the only way it printed descent was if I alcohol wiped it before hand, too much work.
Here are the settings I am currently using
Density 9900
Double Density On
Standard Speed(shouldn't matter)
Dot Overlap On
Color Offset Standard

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Good results so far on General Formulations - GF-216 Gloss White at 12900 density. Not bad for about $180 CAD per 50 yard roll (54").
Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Hello Muts - are any of the compatible vinyls listed anything like 3M ControlTac (repositionable and flexible)? We use it almost exclusively but the cost is getting too much to handle.
We have a Summa DC4 just under a year old.

3M IJ135c-10, anyone tried this? It's 3mil 5 yr with the comply adhesive. $189 54" 50yd roll. I need something cheaper than the control tac. I like the air release adhesive and this is the most reasonably priced I've found.
Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Hey Muts, in the list of compatible materials listed above, can you tell me if any of the "clear" material is optically clear. I know some "clear" material has a frosted or blusher apperiance so you actually cannot see through it.
Thanks,
Allen

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
I have a DC3 and I would like to know if anyone is using polyester material? I don't think that any of the material on the compatible list is poly.
I have an older 4" thermal printer using resin ribbon that has polyester material available for it. The rating for the poly is longer than the vinyl, 7 yrs vs 5yrsfor their materials.
Thanks
Chuck

I have some Orajet 3628 that I would like to test on the machine. Will it hurt anything to try this material? I'm a rookie.

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Hello Muts, The following are my findings.
GOOD
Oracal 5600 white reflective prints awesome at 12500
BAD
3M 680-10 white reflective (differant densities) prints but leave little fish eyes of dots.
Please add this to your "Vinyl List for DC Series Printer".
Thanks,
Allen
