Should we really be using
anything less than Summa approved vinyl? Are we destined
for premature head failure by not using theirs. I wonder
what Jim Doggett might say about this.

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Avery scares me, but I just ran a whole roll sample /beta of SC 900-101 EZ-W. It is the BEST results I have ever had with the dc4 so far... even over the cast that came with the machine. The colors were perfect and vibrant. Ran the whole roll though 50 yds without a hiccup. Now I just have to wait and see how well it holds up to the elements.
Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Ursta - no worries.
I've been using Avery since they took over Sparcal. I have never had a failure. A9 A6 and their print films 3100 and 1005 including Laminate. Knowing what goes where is essential...
Do not Believe the ALL the stories...

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Unfortunately I was one of the stories. Lost well over half my income replacing jobs about 4 years ago. Which is why I was hesitant to try the new stuff.
I am running Orajet 3165RA samples today and I'm having good results as well ... just not as vibrant as the cast.

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Avery didn't re-imburse you at all? What was their excuse?
Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
I had Gregory Inc. replace a bunch of Avery during those dark years. And yes I had those
failures too. Not as severe as some though. Really don't want to use Avery these days
for those reasons and really don't need them anyhow. There are plenty of other solutions
to go with. Oracal is my favorite and a real good price. I use a lot of 751 series.
Say Muts, isn't that Orajet 3165RA the stuff you use with the air egress?

naa I use Orajet 3551RA , certainly not in love with it but it's has properties I haven't found in any other inkjet filmSay Muts, isn't that Orajet 3165RA the stuff you use with the air egress?
Avery makes a good film, their 1005 EZ is THEE wrap film...for me and again I use both AVERY 700 and 900 straight vinyl films
I have had to use oracal 751 on a few wholesale installs and i absolutely hated it...isn't worth the slight money you save..imo
Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Where do you suppose one could get the Avery 1005 EZ cut to our 39.5" for the DC3?Avery makes a good film, their 1005 EZ is THEE wrap film
Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
a good miter saw works fine.

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Say Muts I'm looking at the Fellers Catalog and they list an Avery MPI Supercast Easy Apply-RS
(page 16) Is this the stuff that will work?
Mark
** I know you hat Fellers

Re: Compatible Vinyl List for DC Series Printers
Had some sample of Avery MPI1005 GLOSS LTR EZRS sent to me and I gotta tell you this
stuff printed like nothing I have seen. Totally impressed, and a 10 year vinyl.
Just looked at the Summa Store and they are offering what they say 3M Premium Controltac for $727.
for my DC3. I can get a 48" log of Avery's MPI1005 for $550. Anyone want to guess which
way I will go? See you later Summa media.
** had an incident with Summa's previous EZ apply (I forget the brand name). On a print the
edges curled up due the the overlaminate. Anyone ever seen this?

MPI1005 GLOSS LTR EZRS
yea I really like that stuff...1005 wraps better then any of them imo. Can't due any major contour cuts though.
3m - ugh. I just can not understand it. I dislike all their film and I have used them all - except their reflective like that film.
Summa's previous EZ apply - mactac bubble free? Never used it...
