4sx alignment issue and D75 y axis error

I have almost perfected my production, but I have two nagging issues that aren't deal breakers, but slow production considerably. #1 - I print decals on my 4sx and I always start with the linefeed calibration. In between copies it checks the optitrac marks (I'm using black) and sometimes immediately...

Re: Opos output too close together

I figured out a way to save what I have, so that question is taken care of. Wanted to throw out another question. I noticed since I started laminating my prints they weed horribly. It seems to do fine on anything rounded, but whenever I hit a 90 degree corner it pulls up the print. Is this just norm...

Opos output too close together

I am trying to print multiple designs of the same size. Since I am laminating I am printing with opos marks and then plotting on a D75. I printed 3 copies of my design and there is only 1/4" between each design meaning 1/4" between the end opos of the first and beginning opos of the second. Everytim...

Re: Summa clear vinyl lamination issue?

It's a bunch of small labels, so I the actual length of piece can be whatever I want.

That's a good idea. Honestly I didn't even know this stuff existed. I will give it a shot and report back if it helps.

Thanks for the idea

Summa clear vinyl lamination issue?

Hopefully someone on here has used and laminated on the Summa 3M clear vinyl as I desperately need a solution. I have a specific application that requires a clear backing, so I sprung for the Summa 3M clear vinyl, since it was apparently made for the thermal transfer process. The print is beautiful,...

Suggestions on protecting output

I've finally gotten comfortable with my 4sx and been able to produce some output. My application is very "high traffic", so I need the best protection possible. I decided to buy a Scratchguard ribbon to see if that did the trick and it looks like it's not sufficient. So unfortunately my only option ...

Re: Troubleshoot my ignorance?

Thanks, still trying to learn this bad boy. I am running into a perplexing and frustrating issue. No matter how I set up my file in Coreldraw it is sending the print order as flex=1, contour=2, orange=3, black=4, scratchguard=5. The weirdest part is once I change orange to 1 it changes contour to 2 ...

Re: Troubleshoot my ignorance?

Couple more... 1. After printing is there any way to outfeed the media to access my print? The only way I can figure out to get to it after is to unclamp and then realign the media. I'm probably missing something simple. 2. I sent a job with a spot, contour and flex all enabled, but when it got into...

Re: Troubleshoot my ignorance?

Awesome, I will reach out to Summa to get the duotone chart and also clean my printhead and see if that helps. Last couple questions: 1. Is there any way to define C, M, Y, or K as spots so the rip doesn't screen them? Based on my testing I think I'll always have to do spots for my designs, and I've...

Re: Troubleshoot my ignorance?

Thanks Muts. I was able to export an eps and it worked including the spots for flexcut and contour. Couple more steps, but not a big deal. Now I need to work on the print. My print application will always be viewed close up. Usually under 2 feet away. I really need the most solid output where any sc...

Re: Troubleshoot my ignorance?

Well, I thought I had the spot color palette installed since I chose "full installation", but I have found a couple things (including the colorcontrol toolbar) did not load doing this. I had to install individually. It also may have been because Coreldraw was open while I was loading. As far as the ...

Troubleshoot my ignorance?

Finally got everything in place to start using my 4sx. I'm pretty good with this stuff usually, but I'm hitting a wall. I'm going to list my steps and hopefully someone can enlighten me to what I am doing wrong. I'm using Coreldraw X7. I put together the design and I need to contour cut a few items ...

Re: Clear vinyl on clear backing?

Yikes! $369 seems ridiculous. I may have to go for it though as it seems like the only predictable option. Do you think their brand is just relabeled 7725?

Clear vinyl on clear backing?

Anybody out there know a good clear vinyl on a clear backing that works well with the 4sx? I need it pretty thin (3 mil or less).

Re: Newbie advice?

Christmas over = awesome. I figured that amount was minimal based on the feedback I am reading on the Summas. Not surprised on the hard drives either. I worked for Canon for years and our equipment was the same. Just a generic hard drive, but from Canon it was $500. I've got the opposite issue where...
