Re: New to thermal print 3M 5100???

Mind you it's old school reflective with a very aggressive adhesive. What I have been printing on as of late is Avery Color Change films mostly SW900 Wh...

Re: Alignment issue

Summa I think is done with their printers. My DC3 is now a 700 lb paper weight.

I have even had issues getting GOOD support for their cutters now.

Sad..

Re: Clear vinyl

As far as clear is concerned I have never had any luck with the cheaper stuff.

I have used 3m 8518, 8508 with stellar results and avery 1460, 1360, 1060 with good results.

Re: Technical info about DC4sx

I have changed the head 3 times. - easy.
I have replaced the hard drive also. ( I now keep a copy of it, summa wants a ridiculous amount of money for it. )

Never had any other issues.

Re: Double print

What are you doing your design work in?

I am pretty sure you can print multiple layers using corel and the overprint option.

I do not know anything about signlab to help you.

In Corel the contour cut is setup with a spot color.

Re: Signlab 9.1 and Summa DC#4

Can't help you with signlab, you'll want to maybe contact zlmark I believe he is still active here.

You should go through the whole machine and calibrate/clean everything. Did you get a manual?

Re: Looking at DC4 - what to beware of?

no, they are probably just that DUST, some vinyls can cause this also.

A head would be fine lines indicating a pin out.

He shouldn't run it dusty and I would tell him to refrain from doing it. If there is any sort of debris on the vinyl that can and will damage the head.
