Re: Cassette obstruction...help anyone
Nightdude-- I checked my DC3. Had the same problem today and it reminded me to reply to you. There are 4 roller top inside carriage. Make sure the 2 rollers in the back are cleaned too. This is very important. The micro-switch is probably okay. I found the sensor nearby. Looks okay, might want to da...

Re: Cassette obstruction...help anyone
I don't think you need to take the head off the carriage at all. Wait until I get into the shop. I'll take a look at it. And yes-- hard boot the system. Put 3 carts in (CMY). Turn it off, wait 10 sec or so, then turn it back on. I'd go into the Summa print utility and check parameters from the PC. I...

Re: Cassette obstruction...help anyone
I'd call Summa. It might be the micro switch. Look in the head. See if you can find the micro switch and see if the wires are making contact. Maybe spray it w/WD40 or electric contact cleaner. I have a spare head at the shop & will check it out & get back to you. We have 2 DC3s. We print all our fla...

Re: Cassette obstruction...help anyone
Problem is 2 fold: 1. Dirty rubber wheels slipping -- cannot pull cassette. 2. Cassette not sliding in easily (too much friction). Make sure cassette & path is thoroughly clean. I use my own Windex formula: Spray bottle filled with water. Add 5% ammonia, 5% isopropyl alcohol and a few drops of liqui...

Re: Graphic Design Business books/subscriptions etc
You can't go wrong getting the GAG Handbook or for that matter: JOIN THE GUILD! If there is no local chapter near you, join as a 'member-at-large.' About the handbook: It's based on an old guideline that works best for that specific trade. I have it (them). Been a Guild member over 20 years. The gro...

Re: little blank spots when printing
Hey Beach... It was pretty common knowledge years ago, that some paints never really, completely dry (or fully cure) on some plastics, especially PVC film. Years ago we used to over-coat the painted banners with Future brand acrylic floor wax (I kid you not). That was before Daige Rollaguard came on...

Re: Suggestions on protecting output
Daige liquid Rollaguard is really great! 2 coats should do the trick. Glossy or Satin. About $75/gallon. Available at Hyatt's Supply in Buffalo NY (http://www.hyatts.com). We use 2mil clear for our vehicle magnets on trucks. 3M or Oracal or whatever-- the clear vinyl is your best bet. Only problem i...

Re: little blank spots when printing
I'm so old I remember when they called them "magic markers!" Interestingly, If it weren't for the fact that I was in the screen printing business back in the day, I probably would have bought an inkjet. Those of us that think in 'spot' colors know this technology all too well. Our biggest, most prof...

Re: little blank spots when printing
Hey beachnsled! I assume OP means original post, and 'fave' is favorite and 'markers' are Sharpies? Your colloquial writing is difficult for some of us to understand. Best stay with proper American syntax. (We're a diverse community, here.) That being the case: Sharpie makers are fine but can fade ...

Has anyone tried the new super-clear Mojave Window Film?
I know it's not for auto glass but just a thought... There's got to be an optically-clear HP vinyl film out there.

Mark-- You're gonna like this. i had a guy come in w/some 'hot' stuff. ...Ball caps & t-shirts w/sports team logos on them. He needed holographic labels to look like the license stickers on the genuine articles. Now I know why Summa came out w/their holographic ribbons! lol. Tony PS-- No, I'm not go...
