Re: How are East-coaters enduring the storm?

WOW! I am glad to hear that your property survived. I keep fuel on hand for my generator just for weather disasters. Big snowstorms are probably the most likely problem where I live so heat and water would be missed the soonest. We also keep 5 days of canned food items around as well. It is good new...

How are East-coaters enduring the storm?

I was wondering how those out east are dealing with "Sandy". It appears that our moderator "Mutts" was right in the path.

Re: Cyan Ribbon issues

I too have had issues with the cyan ribbon on my DC1. I did call Summa concerning this and I was accused of trying to get a free ribbon out of them. Now I only use the printer for spot color prints....

Re: eBay Ribbons?

I think they are for a DC1 .. Looks like they will fit my printer. If they were for a (2) I think a chip would need to be included. DC1 ribbons may be starting to get kinds old. I bought a black set to see what happens.

Could one wind the ribbon onto the correct core and not burn through the chip?

"Most Dangerous Man in America".

Well your board says...."Anything goes, sign related or otherwise." Here goes otherwise From time to time there has been discussion concerning the integrity of the U.S. Tuesday night , Public TV ran a film "Most Dangerous Man in America". Did any out there see it and /or think it was significant? If...

Re: Walk me through a purchase please

One concern I would have with the DC2 would be to contact Summa and see if print heads are available any longer. I recieved notice from Summa that when the DC1 heads are gone that's it! I'm not sure if the DC1 head is any different than the DC2.

Re: Jpeg Quality

Mutoh 1304....

The red on the back of the wrecker is painted and actually matches dark red in Arlon colors, but I do not have trouble printing reds. Now to match spot orange, thats another thing. Process color to process color I prefer the Mutoh over my DC1.

Re: Jpeg Quality

Was this job done on a Valuejet or a DC1? I guess either this job is not done in reds or it could not have been done on an inkjet.... or could it?

Re: Ribbon Cores and chips for DC3

Muts,

What do you have there. Are those ribbons that do not work for you? I have been toss-in those chips out. I have only a Magenta and a yellow DC4 chip currently. I bought some ribbons on ebay that someone was closing out. My DC1 can use any dc1,2,3,4 ribbon... No chip!

I have had some problem with 3M vinyl in the past. I would wash a section of the vinyl with 90% isopropal alcohol. Then text the print. It may be that 3m's vinyl is the problem. Also golden yellow seems like a ribbon color that can get "OLD" faster than other colors. I bought out one users supply of...

I have had a similar experience like Mark's. I am on my 4th T cutter and when the cutter gets old it seems to stick on that first cut. Just before I send my file to the cutter for cutting, I manually plunge the cutter head, again just before I send the file. This helps in my case. When cutter heads ...

The ribbons are all the same BUT... The spools and tthe direction they are wound are not... DC1 & 2 have ribbons wound on to 1" fuzzy cardboard cores.

That's is not what I heard was coming. My sources tell me that a DC5 with 3 heads and carriages is coming with 20 cent per S.F. ribbon as well!
No more waiting for all that ribbon cartridge loading and unloading anymore in Y, M, C mode....

If this print was coming from my DC1 I would select all the blue tone with the magic wand in Photoshop and then add about 2% noise to the image.
Can the heat be turned up on the cyan ribbon without wrinkling?
